How a Bond Works

POSTING A BOND IN MICHIGAN COURTS
Posting a bond for a loved one or friend can be confusing, especially in the fast paced Michigan Courts. Although Court Clerks, Bailiffs, and even your attorney can help you through this process, we realize you may have many questions when considering posting bail that can best be answered by a trained Bail Agent from SPEEDY “G” BAIL BONDS.

WHEN AND HOW IS BAIL POSTED?
The purpose of bail is to assure that people charged with criminal offenses appear at all scheduled court hearings. Bond is set one of two ways: either by a predetermined amount based on the offense charged (usually only for Misdemeanors.), or by a Judge. If the person is charged with an offense that has a predetermined bond, you may post bail at any time after the person is in jail. Judges usually set bond at arraignment hearings for all other cases. Arraignments for person’s being held in jail are usually 24 to 48 hours following their arrest. A Bail Agent can usually find out when a defendant is schedules for an arraignment hearing.

WHERE IS BAIL POSTED?

Once Bail has been set, it can be posted at the jail of the person is still there or at the court having jurisdiction. Bail Agents From SPEEDY “G” BAIL BONDS have been trained to assist you in both finding out the amount of and posting bail for your friend or loved one.
